Accuracy: we verify important claims with primary or reliable sources before publication.

Corrections: errors are fixed promptly and noted on the article. See our Corrections Policy.

Attribution: we credit sources and link to them where possible.

Original reporting: we do not copy articles from other publishers. We do not claim investigative reporting unless we actually carry it out.

Sources: anonymous sourcing is used sparingly and explained.

Conflicts of interest: staff must disclose financial or personal interests relevant to a story.

Automation and AI: some pages are generated automatically from structured open data (weather, air quality, schedules, charts, earthquakes) or from sources that allow reuse (government releases and Creative Commons news). They link to their sources and are not presented as our own reporting. Articles written or reviewed by our editors say so. AI-written text, AI illustrations and machine translations are always labelled.

Opinion: commentary is clearly labelled as opinion.
